The Award-Winning Extreme Makeover
Aesthetic & Innovative Aspects
We matched the exterior roof-line of the new wing to the existing, wing: a very traditional, swooping rafter line with a deep overhang. To maintain the Chinese flavor in the interior, we replicated the dining room's inlaid ceiling grid in the new great room, and crafted a new bathroom vanity by adding plumbing and a vessel sink to a Chinese cabinet.
We also hand-crafted a sliding room partition to separate the two house wings, starting with 4 antique hand-carved Chinese panels. First, we wrapped the panels in a custom-built, retractable, walnut door frame, then installed floor and ceiling tracks and mounted the new door frame in the tracks, creating a sliding wall of Chinese panels that is visually stunning and that effectively separates the dining and great rooms.
We introduced our clients to Custom Craft Cabinets, and helped them finalize their new kitchen and wet bar designs using CCC's computer-based modeling tools: they used stylish curves in their granite counters and Kitchen Island, got higher quality and newer styling, and significant savings.
